LUZERNE INTERMEDIATE UNIT #18 - LIGHTHOUSE ACADEMY
A+E Group provided all architectural and engineering (including civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical) design services for the renovation of a former Army Reserve Unit into a school facility featuring specialized classrooms, therapy and sensory rooms, administrative offices, nurse’s suite, multipurpose rooms, kitchen, and gymnasium/cafeteria space. The project was completed in two phases.
The first phase included hazardous materials abatement and selective demolition of existing utilities, systems, construction (i.e., walls, ceilings, select finishes, fixtures, piping, etc.).
The second phase was completed under five contracts; General Construction, HVAC Construction, Plumbing Construction, Fire Protection Construction, and Electrical Construction. Work included interior and exterior construction, new finishes, floor refinishing, new windows, site improvements including new security fencing, new HVAC systems, kitchen hood, fire protection system, plumbing fixtures, and electrical upgrades. Work also included renovations to an existing storage facility on site.
The school has recently been praised for its safety measures.
